Ceremony Is a Cost
Most software carries more process, more infrastructure, and more moving parts than the problem in front of it needs. For prototypes, internal tools, and focused production services, that ceremony is not caution β it is the thing standing between an idea and a working tool. The RAD Stack is the answer to that: as few binaries, databases, and hosts as the problem actually requires, not a fixed count promised in advance.
The Same Decisions, Made Once
The same starting-point choices β language, framework, database, deployment β get remade from scratch on every new build, informally and under time pressure. Shortcuts that look temporary become permanent. The RAD Stack is the decision to stop doing that: the philosophy, principles, and technology choices settled once, so the next build starts from a foundation instead of a blank page.
Five Goals, Every Choice Weighed Against Them
Function over form, fast and pleasant to develop, simple to deploy, simple to operate, easy to evolve. When a technology choice involves a trade-off, it is resolved by asking which option best serves these β not by reaching for whatever is fashionable.
What It Produces
Anything built with the RAD Stack is still a digital solution, and everything the DSLC Model says about building one still applies β this is one concrete way of building the Application and Application Platform layers, scoped deliberately to prototypes, internal tools, and focused production services. It is not the default choice for a multi-tenant platform serving many customers at once, which needs answers this stack does not try to provide.
Still Proving Itself
Most of the individual pieces have track records in production; a few are here on the strength of design rationale rather than personal use. What remains a hypothesis is the combination β that they hold together as coherently as they hold apart. The full technology tables, the roads not taken, and why, are in My RAD Stack.
From Practice to Product
The stack has value as a documented practice on its own β read it, and build your own equivalent. The RAD Stack Template is what turns it into something to start from directly rather than assemble by hand.
Putting it to work inside a team is different again β RAD Stack Adoption is coaching a team through learning and applying it on real work, not generic training.
If ceremony is whatβs slowing your team down, get in touch β or read the full breakdown in My RAD Stack.
